"The Jazz
Derivatives were pleased to record at Middle Earth Studios.
The set-up went quickly, the recording process was smooth
and non-stressful, and the final product was great! It was
very helpful to have a recording engineer who is also a
musician who understood our goals and the sound we were
striving for. All in all, recording at Middle Eearth was a
great value, and we are happy with the results".

Michael Lewis is a gem to work with.
He makes everyone feel at ease, including those who have
never recorded before. Michael is encouraging and creative.
His keen musical ability and attention to detail are
absolute pluses in the studio. I feel incredibly lucky
that Middle Earth Studio was available for my recording
projects.

After the great experience I initially
had recording at Middle Earth, I have returned many times.
Whether I'm recording classical or folk music,
Michael always manages to catch the essence of the sound I
am trying to create. He has also done a wonderful job with
several of my private music students who have recorded
competition CDs with him. So far we're batting 100%!
With the studio’s state-of-the-art equipment and Michael’s
ability to make artists young and old feel quite at ease, I
think this is the best place to record music in the
Lafayette area.

I love
working with Michael in the studio! He's calm,
reassuring and very very patient. When he's asked for
input, he always has wonderful ideas. Because he is
also a musician, he understands what his clients are going
through, what their goals are. Because he is an
extremely talented musician, some of the pieces he has added
to the recordings I've been a part of are my favorite parts.
He has an exquisite sensibility in the studio, adding just
the right amount of frosting to the delicacies of other musicians.
I'm very glad that all four of the recordings of which I've
been a part have been created in Middle Earth.

Many years ago when I first heard
Sharon McKnight’s CD,
My Backyard, I was immediately taken by the
musicianship, arrangements and production qualities.
Upon inspection I noticed that the name Michael Lewis
was all over that recording.
I thought then to try to record my next project with
Michael, but it was to be another eight years before the
stars were lined up.
Finally in 2008 I recorded my best-selling album to
date, Pilgrimage,
and again the name Michael Lewis is all over my recording as
well! To say
that I was elated with the process and ecstatic with the
product would still be an understatement.
Michael was so easy to work with, is highly skilled
in recording, arranging, playing and mixing, and is an
absolutely delightful human being.

Michael is very receptive and
understanding of what one wants to do. His studio is a very
personal and friendly environment.
